David has been advocating for animals since 2006, and believes that along with education, giving animals a voice in parliament is one of the most effective ways to help them. Most decisions made in parliament affect animals either directly (such as the live export) or indirectly (such as wildlife displacement due to land development) and animals are currently given very little consideration in these decisions. Animals used in food manufacturing industries in particular are afforded virtually no protection against cruelty and are therefore subjected to many practices and living conditions that inflict tremendous mental and physical suffering. David believes this is out of step with what most Australians would find acceptable - but the good news is that as voters we have the power to create positive change and that is why he is running as a candidate.
