Emma Sandford Stonnington 2020

Emma is standing for North Ward in Stonnington Council.

Emma Sandford is an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher who attended school in Stonnington and has lived, worked and volunteered in the area for the past 20 years. She has worked for federal and state government departments and the Victorian Parliament, been a social worker, and spent 10 years volunteering and working in visitor services for Melbourne City Council and Arts Centre Melbourne. Emma is currently retraining as a primary school teacher and early childhood educator and is very excited by this new career direction. Emma is passionate about animal welfare, environmental issues and community building. She volunteered at Prahran Mission for three years, helping in the Emergency Relief and Winter Breakfast programs, and has volunteered at numerous animal shelters overseas.

“My vision for Stonnington is to have greater inclusion and consideration of wildlife in local planning and development, providing more green space for animals and people, supporting animal-friendly and environmentally-friendly businesses to set up shop, advocating for cleaner and greener Yarra River and Glen Waverley line railway corridors, and tackling specific COVID-19 challenges through revitalising shopping strips and making outdoor dining a more pleasant experience through better environmental and traffic management.”

Emma is delighted to be standing as an Animal Justice Party candidate and wants to translate their core values of kindness, equality, rationality and non-violence into tangible benefits for both the human and animal communities of Stonnington.

A vote for Emma Sandford is a vote for compassion, commitment and community, and a kinder world for animals and people alike.
