Scrap the Cruel ATCW Permit System

The Authority to Control Wildlife (ATCW) permit system is broken.

The recently released 2020 data shows permits were given to 'control':

  • 57 common long-necked turtles, part of the world’s most endangered vertebrate taxa.
  • 11,000 grey-headed flying foxes, our native pollinators.
  • 1500 bare-nosed wombats were killed, our 'eco-system engineers.

And that is barely touching on the surface. Many thousands more kangaroos, wallabies and other native animals were massacred under this tick-and-flick licensing system. The same data shows permits were given to 'lethally control':

  • 50 Black Swans
  • 66,649 Eastern Grey Kangaroos
  • 293 Magpies
  • 2680 Galahs
  • 6330 Little & Long-Billed Corellas
  • 215 Red Wattlebirds
  • 405 Musk Lorikeets
